Mr. Dwight Thomas

Dwight Thomas fell in love with the Episcopal Church and its music while in graduate school at Indiana University, studying with Marilyn Keiser. He moved to Florida in 1999 and has been serving at St. Peter’s Cathedral since 2009, working with the three choirs there, administrating the concert series, and serving as musician for diocesan events. Dwight is also a veteran theater organist and was named “Theater Organist of the Year” by the American Theater Organ Society in 2006, and his theater organ recording, The All-American Music of Irving Berlin, was selected as one of the top 10 recordings of 1990 by TIME magazine.

He is currently Canon for Music and Precentor at the Cathedral Church of Saint Peter (Episcopal) in St. Petersburg, Florida; Collaborative Pianist at Pinellas County Center for the Arts; and University Organist and Instructor at the University of Tampa. He is also a Certified Personal Trainer with the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and house servant to two adult cats with varying personality disorders.

When not working he has a keen interest in weight training and exercise science, meteorology, Star Trek, and is a frustrated composer and wanna-be percussionist
